This weekend I will be at the European Youth qualification race in Eton for the first meeting of the regional talent identification officers. I’m really looking forward to helping develop a national strategy for Talent Identification and to implement it in the South West. The area currently has 1 athlete on the start line for this weekends race, so we’ve got some work to do!!! If your going to be there then come and say hello.

Avignon and French Grand Prix D2

This weekend I travelled to Avignon in the South of France for the first race of the Division 2 French Grand Prix championships with my team ESMGO Triathlon. ESMGO were relegated from the 1st division last season and I had been signed up to help them get back in the top flight for next year. I really didn’t know what to expect in terms of the standard of racing, with 80 guys racing at the very top level in division 1 I thought they might have run out of guys by the time it got down to the second division. 4th at Windsor

So, you’ve spent the winter concentrating on trying to improve your flat running speed. What do you do come race season A, sit in the pack conserving your energy in the disciplines you haven’t been working on and wait for the run or B, break away on the swim and try and 2 up time trial away from the field on the bike. For some reason at Windsor today I thought B was the correct answer.
