A big Thank You to everyone who has been in touch to congratulate me on London and also to those who saw the grandstand coverage and wanted to tell me to pull more turns.

I owe alot of people emails and will get on the case when I’m back from France on Monday.

It’s been a good (if a little busy)  few weeks, I won the Dorset County 10km track champs and my home event the swanage carnival 1000m Sea Swim. I did the last of the Moreton circuit races which provided some of the hardest team time trialling I have ever done and also gave a days talk at http://www.cycleworld.co.uk/ in Southampton which was great fun.  Along with Julie and Sam Gardner I ran an xterra training camp in Wales that went really well with everyone having a great laugh (mostly at my expense as I thought I was a down hill mountain biker but clearly wasn’t)

I am off to france now for the french Grand Pric in Vesoul, Click below to see some pictures of the last few weeks also for a comprehensive guide on how to crash a mouintain bike have a look at the utube link of our ride around the xterra UK course.

Really quick update as i’m, in a hotel internet cafe

I was 4th today, really pleased with the result and the cheque might come in handy as well. Thanks to all the guys who have helped me out over the last 12 months through what have been some pretty average results. Particularly Rich Brady down at Kelly College Pete Freedman whos dragged me through some tough training sessions and Total Fitness Bath.

Ben Sanson my old room mate from Switzerland last year attacked in the swim coming out 15 seconds up, the pace was really on and I was 3rd out behind Dillan McNiece from Newzealand. We went very hard for the first 5km and ended up as a front pack of 6 with me Tim Don, Stuart Hayes, Matt Reed, Ben Sanson and Dann Brook. I didn’t pull turns as I haven’t been riding alot and they were out of my league. The guys did a great job bringing us off the bike 90 seconds up on Bevan Docherty and Henrik Delviller who were chasing hard. I ran with dann for 5km and then managed to pull away to take 4th infront of a fast chasing Henrik and behind Tim Stu and Matt three of the best athletes in the sport.

Beating Olympic Silver medalist Bevan Docherty ands World Cup winner Henrik was fantastic.

I am really greatful to the other guys in the break who let me sit on and helped me out…Ben was great, the guys a legend and Tim was making sure I kept drinking…thanks guys!!  Dann Brook had a great race and I hope he makes the World U23 team along with Pete who finished 12th having just missed the break but clocking one of the fastest runs of the day.

Eguzon

A really quick post as I got back from France late last night and need to be in Loughborough this evening and still have a bike and a run to do before I go.

I finished 16th in Eguzon, normally not a great result, but after the last few weekends I was quite pleased. The course was insane, the picture above shows one of the flatter sections of run. The bike didn’t have more than 30m of flat in it and most of the run was cross country. I led the swim and got into a break of around 20 guys on the bike. Compared to the last few weeks I felt good on the bike and sat comfortably with the  group. On the run I hadn’t brought my fell shoes and was still a bit tired, but did enough to be first finisher for my team. We are now two points off making the triathlon eqiuivilant of the play offs, so the next race over an Olympic distance in Vesoul is going to be really important.

I’m looking forward to a weekend off next weekend and i’m already really excited about London!!

From Holten I travelled down to Lemgo with Flemming Neuman and my German team. The Lemgo squad is strong, with double Olympian Lucy Zelenkova doing the coaching and athletes like Garhard Wolfhard from South Africa and Mike (whos second name I cant remember but who finished 4th at Ironman Roth and rides like an animal) in the squad. I was looking forward to spending a week with the group and experiencing a bit of Germany.
